Wildnerness Adventure In Our Own Backyard
Outpost's Day Camp and Senior Outpost Programs meet directly west of the main buildings at Canyonside Community Park, located in Rancho Penasquitos. We use our own log amphitheater to hold morning and afternoon "campfires", and have access to the adjacent fields and activity areas for our other recreational activities.

Our site is located at the easternmost edge of the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, where the 56 freeway meets Black Mountain Rd in Rancho Peñasquitos. Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, a 3700-acre wilderness area with miles of hiking trails and other natural wonders, is jointly operated by the City and County of San Diego.
Our swimming program is held at Mt Carmel High School pool as well as the Westview High School pool, located a few miles north of our Canyonside Park site off of Carmel Mountain Rd. These are newly built/rebuilt state-of-the-art facilities with a highly trained, professional staff of lifeguards. While Outpost does not offer formal swim lessons, we offer lessons to our youngest swimmers free of charge once a week through a partnership with San Diego Swim School - an excellent resource for parents seeking swim lessons for their children. How do I get to OSC?
Outpost's Day Camp and Senior Outpost programs are located just west of the main buildings at Canyonside Community Park.
Canyonside Community Park's street address is:
12350 Black Mountain Rd, San Diego, CA 92129
When you enter the park at the main entrance (at the signal at Canyonside Park Drive), make an immediate right into the first parking area, and follow that road past the main buildings and back towards the tennis courts. Park and walk into the park directly west of the tennis courts. You'll see Outpost Summer Camp directly ahead. Please check in with a director upon your arrival.
For the Open House, enter the park and go straight ahead (don't turn right towards the buildings). Follow the signs to our meeting area.
Pre Camp, Seasonal Camps and FRIENDS are located at other sites.
