If you were to tell someone one thing about Outpost, it would be...
...that Outpost is a wonderful opportunity for your child to feel successful in a safe atmosphere surrounded by friends and well-trained staff. It has been so evident in the summers I have been at Outpost that no camper or staff member leaves without experiencing some type of growth.
I never expected...
...to belong to something like Outpost. I feel privileged to have found a home in this program and what it has to offer. It has been wonderful to be part of something that I am so proud to represent. Outpost offers what many camps cannot in its safe, comfortable atmosphere. This has largely contributed to its success for children of all ages. Counselors are carefully and trained to create a group dynamic that fosters growth and challenges campers to step outside their comfort zones. I'm proud to be a part of Outpost!
I like Campfire because...
...it is such a wonderful way to get everyone involved and ready for the day. During my first year as a counselor, campfire was super intimidating because you are essentially performing in front of hundreds of people. During that first week of camp, however, I discovered that everyone just gets to be ridiculous together and the more ridiculous you are, the more awesome it is! Where else do you get to experience something like that? It's really been a neat experience to see both campers and counselors alike come out of their shells completely during campfire. It is an opportunity for growth like none other when you get to completely be yourself in front of people who absolutely love it!
The person who had a big impact on me was STUART becauseā¦
...he has a way of looking at any situation and turning it into something anyone can handle. I was so thankful to learn from him as a counselor, but I am even more excited to gain wisdom from Stuart as one of his directors. His passion not only for Outpost but for each camper is remarkable, and I've found it becomes contagious if you hang around him enough! I feel honored to be able to call him my mentor throughout the adventures of working with kids. He has completely transformed my perspective, and I'm grateful to be able to use that wisdom now and in the future!
