Outpost Summer Camps contracts with Student Transportation of America to provide safe, professional school-bus transportation to and from our pool and other San Diego activities. Our buses are operated by experienced school bus drivers who are interviewed and hired by our Outpost director team and co-trained alongside our summer staff.
Your child’s safety is our #1 priority
The buses are 84 passenger vehicles operating at half capacity to ensure that our small cohorts of children and their group staff board as a unit, wearing masks and sitting in designated sections. Buses operate with the windows open and all passengers wearing masks at all times. Buses are thoroughly cleaned by both STA and Outpost staff in between shuttle trips. Our staff ensure that all children are seatbelted at all times and following all passenger safety rules and expectations. The campers LOVE the bus rides and they will be among the highlights of your child’s experience at camp, as our bus games and activities are some of our most popular programming!
A note on our previous door-to-door transportation service
After careful review by our leadership team and working closely with health department consultation, we have determined that we cannot safely provide the door to door transportation we’ve been known for over the last 18 summers. Health department guidelines make it clear that children attending summer camps should be kept in very small groups, together, all day, with the same staff, separated from other groups of children. Picking up different kids from different residential areas and having them ride together to camp, whether in a small passenger van or a large bus, then having them join a different group goes against these guidelines (as well as common sense). Our small groups that are carefully organized to stay together all day, every day, ride the bus as a homogenous unit, with masks, to and from the pool and other activities.
